Flaws of Homeschooling -Mohammad Koarani 9B
Once upon a time, education was still a question. It was up to both economic and social conditions. Nevertheless, it was restricted based on terms such as gender and race. Yet, nowadays, no child is expected to run his childhood without education. The debate now held is whether homeschooling provides more advanced education to students than the school itself. I believe homeschooling has its social, economic, and psychological disadvantages.
To begin with, homeschooling deprives a kid from the healthy social environment he could have acquired at school. First, it is certainly proved that education without attitude is like a tree deprived of leaves. The foundation of the structure is there, but the aim, the message, and the ultimate giving of the system will be lost if it did not find a normal trajectory of input and output. The input and output, of course, are the child’s interaction, debates, and discussion, problematic and solution query skills developed only when studying with peers. On the contrary, when a child is automated to only receive information without interaction, his future role in society, whether working or volunteering, will be compromised by ill communication and close-mindedness.
On the other hand, homeschooling puts parents in economic stress. To explain, private teachers demand more payment per working hours compared to teachers within schools. Private teachers have to provide their own resources of extra sheets and have to be ready at different schedules to cope with the kid’s unrestricted timing of studying. Both facts add up to the teacher’s already higher salary.
Unfortunately, homeschooling is not the best option for building a healthy psychological environment. Kids are born to play and interact with peers. Being part of the system, sitting on same desks, sharing stationery, sharing rewards and warnings, all make up the normal growth of a child. On the contrary, a child who spends weekdays alone is prone to loneliness, depression, and ill-power to receive, innovate, create, and imagine since the only recipient and interactor will be the old private teacher.
As a conclusion, although homeschooling may seem advanced and professional, it is not a wise decision for the aforementioned reasons. If a child went through situations where he became obliged to be homeschooled, special efforts must be done to seal the gaps in the disadvantages.
