Mother Nature in Danger

Sooner or later, we will have to recognize that the earth has rights to live without pollution. What mankind must know is that human beings cannot live without Mother Earth but the planet can live without humans because humans are just polluting the earth while the earth is providing them with necessities to live (trees-air_...) Land pollution is when humans introduce harmful objects, chemicals or substances, directly or indirectly into the soil in a way that it causes and affects other living things or destroys soil or water ecosystems. There are myriad of human-made causes for land pollution that lead to lethal health and environmental effects, so because of that serious measures must be taken to overcome it.

To begin with there are many causes of land pollution such as having overcrowded landfills. when the household produces tons of garbage yearly like aluminum plastic, paper, cloth, wood which are collected and sent to the local recycling unit. An item that can’t be recycled becomes a part of the land hill that hampers the beauty of nature and causes land pollution. For example, by 2025 there will be 1.4billions more people living in cities worldwide, with each person producing an average of 1.42 kg of M.S.W which is more than double the current average of 0.64 kg per day. These cities include Sri Lanka which produces (5.10 kg) and of Kuwait is (5.72 kg) Moreover, agricultural activities lead to land pollution has with the growing of human population demand for food has increased considerably. Farmers often use highly toxic fertilizers and pesticides to get rid of insects, fungi, and bacteria from their crops. However, with the overuse of these chemicals, they result in contamination and poisoning of the soil. As an illustration, the economy of Liberia is heavily reliant on its agriculture which accounts for 76.9% of the west-African country’s GDP, the highest in the world. This revenue makes it hard for a country to give up on such an active source in its economic cycle even if it causes pollution.
In addition to that, every cause leads to an effect such as overcrowded landfills lead to deforestation and health problems. When deforestation is committed, the tree cover is compromised. This leads to a steep imbalance in the rain cycle. A disturbed rain cycle affects also on many different factors. A major affected factor is the green cover that is reduced. Trees and plants help balance the atmosphere, without them we are subjected to various concerns like global warming the greenhouse effect, irregular rain full and flash food among far imbalances. For instance, historically Honduras was pretty much entirely covered by trees, with half of the remains (52%) count just about 16% existing in a frontier forest state. Between 1990.2005, Honduras saw a decline of 37% in its forest cover. Furthermore, land pollution affects human’s health, because when the land is contaminated with toxic chemicals and pesticides lead to the problem of skin cancer and the human respiratory system. The toxic chemicals can reach our body through food and vegetables that we eat as they are grown in polluted soil. A perfect example is the Andean town of La Oroya has been home to metal smelter run by Missouri based Doe Run Corporation since 1922. As a result, nearly all local children suffer from lead poisoning and respiratory complications. The Peruvian government has even been taken to court of crimes against humanity by various organizations.
As a conclusion, having overcrowded landfills, and agricultural activities define the causes of land pollution that leads to deforestation and health diseases. So we can decrease the effect of those causes by some solutions such as recycling that reduces dramatically landfills. Also if people knew how to organize their activities, they could help Mother Nature from being destroyed.
