The Mother of Medicine
“Never say never because limits, like fears, are often just illusions.” This quote alludes that an athlete, though times may get difficult and tough, should not surrender and put borders to his skills and his ability to achieve and has the capability to surpass the limits given to him or her, for allowing himself or herself to manipulate his or her mind into thinking that one can’t accomplish a certain thing is like transforming reality into fantasy, the possible into the impossible, and faith into doubt. It is the benefit of the doubt that one allows to penetrate his or her thoughts and creates this wall of insecurity and confusion and whether one should keep ongoing or stop; and that is what sports are for, to display one’s talents in a field that can be enjoyed and practiced by all kinds of body shapes, races, and religions. One can’t lose sight of the bright side of sports. In fact, sports, a peaceful comic, carries a myriad of benefits on the social, psychological and physical fields.

Initially, sports encompass a plethora of advantages in one’s life, for it assists one to reach fame and helps a person to build new friendships. To begin with, sports have a major effect in influencing one’s popularity among fans based on their skills, strengths, and accomplishments which is the main criterion for an athlete to gain fame. Many athletes have gained fame over their previous achievements like Ryan Howard who was a famous baseball player in his high school and college days, and he was instantly proven to be such after finding himself in the majors at 24. His career home run total sits ay 382 now. Moreover, sports help people in socializing and therefore building relations and friendships between an athlete and another or even between fans. Sports is an interesting field to be attached to people and connect spiritually and physically with a person. For example, a rookie and newbie football player was having personal problems with his wife. And after joining teaching classes and clubs, he discovered the peaceful and healthy mentality of the players and his coach and was comfortable enough to share his worries and open up. He discovered the homely and pleasant atmosphere around him and was at ease to share his worries with his coach; therefore he trusted those who were completely strangers originally and had the opportunity to expose his feelings to other players -the ones who accepted him as a friend and companion in football and personal life; and this was the beginning of a new friendship which was much needed.

Additionally, sports aids a person psychologically, for it helps in boosting self-confidence and assists in reducing stress. As a start, as one starts practicing sports, each time this person learns a new trick or skill, his pride for his achievement arises which means that his self-esteem around people will escalate, not to forget his encouragement to surpass calamities in his personal or social life will skyrocket. As an example, professor Margaret Talbot, president of the International Council for Sport Science and Physical Education, once wrote that practicing sports and physical activities are distinctively powerful ways of helping youngsters and adolescents to be themselves and come to view themselves and their potentials in a new way. Sports also have a way of reducing stress and anxiety to those who find freedom in sports and those who find it a way of escapism from their negative thoughts. As such, a study was conducted by the Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression which assigned for 5 depressed females and males to exercise 30 minutes on the treadmill for 10 consecutive days. The end of the study shows that this exercise was sufficient enough to produce a clinically relevant and statistically significant reduction in depression. And as of many studies, more scientists have linked that practicing sports is the main factor to lessen stress and encourage to practice it more.

Sports also contains a myriad of physical benefits such as strengthening the various bones and muscles in the body and improving blood circulation. As a beginning, sports physically aid a person by strengthening his bones which is also related to having high stamina which allows one to exercise more, therefore, having a higher possibility to strengthens one’s bones. For instance, Morgan University statistics in 2014 have shown that individuals who practice higher overload sportive modalities have a major bone mineral density (BMD). Another reason that sports is efficient is that it improves blood circulation which delivers oxygen and nutrients via blood to each of one’s 50 trillion cells while also ushering away toxins. To illustrate, Donald Dengel, Ph.D., director of the Laboratory of Integrative Human Physiology at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis explains that exercise makes the circulatory system stronger, more flexible and more expansive as he quotes: “The circulatory system loves exercise.”

To wrap up, to enhance the social, psychological and physicals fields in your life, practicing sports will help you to do so. Even though many people have awoken to the innumerable and diverse benefits of sports, unfortunately, some people haven’t. they are still oblivious to the fact that exercising is a great deal in someone’s life, or they just ignore it due to laziness. Advertisements of people who have begun exercising and saw a positive and wide difference between the beginning and their current situation should be created for the world to see it and be encouraged by it. More gyms should be opened and in different places to ensure the safety of people coming and going from and to their homes. And people have got to stop scrolling through Instagram and start scrolling through Google to find a gym near his or her home or find exercises that may aid you around people, mentally, and medically.
